Everyone thought they knew the Democrat Party game plan for when Trump won the election.
But then something surprising happened.
And Donald Trump couldn’t believe Democrats waived the white flag of surrender at this moment.
As Swamp Digest reports:
Now that Donald Trump has won the election for a second time – and more decisively than he did in 2016 – many Democrats across America have simply given up.
They do not have the energy to fight him the way they did the first time.
Parties frequently go through a period of anxiety after losing an election, but rarely are they as subdued and defeated as the Democrats are right now.
According to The Guardian, “In late 2016, soon after Donald Trump was elected to his first White House term, many women were diligently knitting pink “p****” hats to wear at a huge march where they protested against the election of a man who had recently boasted that he would ‘grab’ women.”
“Eight years later, the response of many centrist and left-leaning Americans to a Trump second term has been more muted. For many anti-Trump voters – and even some institutions – the return of Trump prompts a feeling of just wanting to ignore it all, including politics more broadly, and focus their energy elsewhere.”
Democrats have finally realized that the harder they push back against Trump, the better he seems to do.
Americans were tired of the bitterness and woke ideology the left had been beating over their heads.
The article continues, “In New York City, residents were once shocked that one of their own – Donald Trump, a man once close to Democratic power brokers in the city – had been elected, as a Republican, over Hillary Clinton. In the aftermath of November’s shock national election, they are more apt to say, ‘Well, we got whipped,’ and move on to other topics.”
Part of it is likely the fact Trump’s victory should’ve been obvious to most people and could have been predicted from a mile away.
In 2016 and 2020, he dramatically outperformed his poll numbers.
In 2024, the polls were tied. Basic math could have easily suggested Trump was headed for a comfortable victory.
Some people rejected this reality, but others saw it coming.
Now that Trump has won, it seems we can expect to see a much more muted and subdued opposition than last time.
Which is a huge sigh of relief.
