Joe Biden issued Hunter Biden a blanket pardon for any crimes he may have committed from January 1, 2014 to December 1, 2024.
In his statement announcing the pardon, Biden confessed that the pardon was an act of self-preservation in order to stop any future investigations into Hunter Biden during the time he was on the board of directors at Burisma and engaged in financial or foreign lobbying crimes that could implicate Joe Biden.
“There has been an effort to break Hunter – who has been five and a half years sober, even in the face of unrelenting attacks and selective prosecution. In trying to break Hunter, they’ve tried to break me – and there’s no reason to believe it will stop here. Enough is enough,” Biden wrote.
Biden also admitted his own Justice Department acted on political considerations.
“Here’s the truth: I believe in the justice system, but as I have wrestled with this, I also believe raw politics has infected this process and it led to a miscarriage of justice,” Biden added.
Democrats were furious.
For the last four years, Democrats and their partners in the press claimed it was Donald Trump who wanted to destroy faith in the justice system by issuing politically motivated pardons to protect allies.
Joe Biden humiliated them all and made them look like fools with the Hunter Biden pardon.
Democrat politicians looking towards the future recognized the pardon as politically toxic and took the free shot at an unpopular lame duck President.
Michigan Democrat Senator Gary Peters is facing a 2026 re-election campaign in a state Donald Trump won twice.
Peters wasted no time in publicly condemning the pardon.
“President Biden’s decision to pardon his son was wrong. A president’s family and allies shouldn’t get special treatment. This was an improper use of power, it erodes trust in our government, and it emboldens others to bend justice to suit their interests,” Peters wrote on X.
Colorado Governor Jared Polis is viewed as a dark horse contender for the 2028 Democrat Presidential nomination.
Polis was the second governor in America to re-open during the pandemic so he has a keen political antennae.
And Polis also slammed the pardon as corrupt.
“While as a father I certainly understand President @JoeBiden ’s natural desire to help his son by pardoning him, I am disappointed that he put his family ahead of the country. This is a bad precedent that could be abused by later Presidents and will sadly tarnish his reputation,” Polis posted on social media.
“When you become President, your role is Pater familias of the nation. Hunter brought the legal trouble he faced on himself, and one can sympathize with his struggles while also acknowledging that no one is above the law, not a President and not a President’s son,” Polis concluded,
Even CNN turned on Biden with leftist stalwart Manu Raj saying the pardon will haunt Biden for all time.
“And you say it certainly from a lot of perspective, but it’s a stain on his legacy,” Raj declared.
Joe Biden spent months falsely claiming he wouldn’t pardon Hunter Biden.
By issuing the pardon, Biden admitted he was lying the whole time.
This gave the Democrats and the media an easy chance to try and separate themselves from an already failed President in the hopes of pointing the party in a new direction.
