CNN Implies Donald Trump Caused the DC Plane Crash
Donald Trump is almost certainly not to blame for the devastating plane crash that took place in DC.
Trump had taken office just a week before the crash occurred, and nearly all of the air traffic control employees were the same people who were there before Biden left office.
Air traffic control is not like a cabinet appointment.
Employees of ATC aren’t swapped out every time a new president takes office.
For the most part, the people employed in these jobs remain in place since they aren’t political positions.
So when CNN writes an article implying the crash was Trump’s fault, it seems rather overreaching if not altogether petty.
There is Little Evidence Trump Had Anything to Do with the Crash
CNN reported: “It’s one of the more obviously flawed ideas embraced by both President Donald Trump and his right-hand man Elon Musk: that government should be run like a business.”
“On Day One, the head of the Federal Aviation Administration, who had publicly clashed with Musk over issues related to SpaceX, stepped down. The post remained vacant for nine days. It was only after 67 people were killed in a midair collision over the Potomac River in Washington that Trump announced the appointment of Chris Rocheleau, an FAA veteran who most recently ran an aviation business lobby, to lead the agency.”
Claiming the person heading up the agency has anything to do with the immediate day-to-day operations is ignorant. It’s like blaming the CEO of McDonald’s when a local drive-thru employee mishandles a customer’s order.
“Ten days in, and the sturdy bureaucracy — the folks tasked with keeping planes in the air, ensuring water is drinkable, providing housing to veterans, any number of other essential services — is in chaos,” CNN claimed.
“And while the cause of the plane crash, just a few miles from the White House near Reagan National Airport, is not yet known, it is testing the new administration’s response to a crisis at its own doorstep.”
Donald Trump did not fire all ATC employees and replace them with QAnon Shaman. Most ATC employees are still in place.
Furthermore, it’s not clear the crash was even the fault of ATC, as they warned the helicopter about the impending crash.
The crash in DC was a horrific tragedy, but assigning blame before an investigation has even taken place is just careless.
