Adam Schiff walked into an ambush.
No one could believe what they were seeing.
And Adam Schiff got put on the hot seat by the last person he ever expected.
This was expected to be a friendly interview for Adam Schiff.
He was on a network that leans heavily progressive.
But things did not go the way Democrat viewers were hoping.
When a Democrat goes on NBC, they can usually expect to be treated in a far friendlier manner than a Republican.
But when Adam Schiff went on recently, viewers were likely surprised by the type of questions he received.
According to Fox News, “NBC’s Kristen Welker questioned Sen. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., on Sunday about whether former President Biden’s aides misled the public about the former president’s capacities.”
“NBC’s Welker asked about a new book written by author Chris Whipple, in which he details comments from former chief of staff Ron Klain, who said he was ‘startled’ by Biden during debate preparation, and that the president was ‘fatigued, befuddled and disengaged.’”
Of course, people who had observed the former president since he took office, even from a distance, were noticing the signs of decline.
Even as far back as his campaign in 2019-2020, it was becoming clear to many people that he wasn’t nearly as sharp as he used to be.
Schiff’s answer to the question was very vague: “It’s hard for me to gauge what the closest advisers of the president were seeing at the time. I can only speak to the interactions that I had with him, which were, you know, in the months leading up to his getting out of the race, largely ceremonial occasions.”
“He made the decision to get out of the race, I think that was the right decision. The vice president, as the vice president, I think, ran a great campaign, but could not run away from being a representative of the status quo.”
Even if Schiff’s statement is true, that he hadn’t interacted much with Biden beyond ceremonial occasions, he nonetheless must have known people who did.
There’s no way that Schiff was so out of the loop in D.C. that he hadn’t heard a single person comment on Biden’s declining capacities.
If that’s true, it’s almost more alarming than the alternative, as it means people were so slavishly devoted to Biden that they couldn’t perceive the obvious.
Either way, people are not going to be very satisfied with what Schiff said when he was grilled on how much Democrats knew about Biden’s decline.
