Candidates covet President Trump’s endorsement.
The Trump endorsement is the difference between winning and losing,
And Donald Trump just made this major 2028 Presidential announcement.
President Trump called into a NewsNation town hall hosted by Chris Cuomo to mark his first 100 days in office.
ESPN host Stephen A. Smith was one of the guests on the show.
Smith’s celebrity and outspoken nature – he recently made headlines when NBA star LeBron James confronted him at a Lakers game over his commentary on James’ son Bronnie’s NBA career – catapulted him into the 2028 Presidential conversation.
Smith is a frequent guest on NewsNation and Fox News, which only adds fuel to the fire that he’s strongly considering running in 2028 as a Democrat.
Count President Trump among those who hope that happens as Trump told Smith and the audience that he possessed the charisma and TV skills to become a successful candidate.
“I love watching him. He’s got great entertainment skills, which is very important. People watch him,” Trump declared.
Trump noted that he has a good win-lose record when it comes to endorsements and thought Smith would make a formidable candidate.
“I’ve been pretty good at picking people and picking candidates, and I will tell you, I’d love to see him run,” Trump added.
Stephen A. Smith stoked Presidential flames when he spoke at the National Association of Broadcasters Convention and admitted he felt obligated to consider running for President to stop Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez from winning the Democrat presidential nomination, warning that her 70 percent tax rate proposal was un-American.
“You want to ask why Stephen A. Smith felt the need to speak up at the NAB conference? Let me ask y’all this question: We’re supposed to leave it to Bernie Sanders and AOC, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez?” Smith declared.
“We’re supposed to leave it with individuals that will tell you that it’s perfectly OK to tax 70% of your money? Not that they gave out that number. I’m just speculating because of how socialistic they are in their thinking.”
“We’re supposed to say that that’s OK? Y’all OK with that? You OK with going to work and making $100 and walking home with $30?” Smith added. “You sure about that? Are you cool with it? Just tell me. Because these are the kind of questions that we have to ask ourselves. That is why I spoke up.”
Tucker Carlson is another person who thinks a candidate like Smith could be formidable.
Carlson told Megyn Kelly that someone who could campaign as an outsider against his party’s failed orthodoxies – the same as Donald Trump did in the Republican Party – would be the type of candidate he could see winning the Democrat nomination in 2028.
“Actually, conservatives don’t want to admit it, but it is popular. So someone who comes out and attacks the credit card companies, attacks the endless war, basically does kind of [like] Trump on the left. That person could easily get elected,” Carlson stated.
Stephen A. Smith is someone who fits that bill.
