Other contenders – such as Florida Congressman Byron Donalds, New York Congresswoman Elise Stefanik, former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Dr. Ben Carson, and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem – remain under consideration but don’t rank as highly as the other choices.
Even in the wake of the sham conviction in the New York City show trial, Trump maintains a lead over Joe Biden.
New polling shows Trump still leading Biden by one in Michigan and five in Georgia.

Voters know this trial was politically motivated and predicated on a partisan Democrat prosecutor inventing a new legal theory to make up crimes so Democrats could yell about how Trump is now a convicted felon.
Trump’s pick is important to keep the base energized and reassure voters who dislike both Biden and Trump that everything about the Trump presidency they did like – low inflation, a booming economy, a secure border, and no new wars – is on the table for a second Trump administration.
That’s why Senator Vance (R-OH) is the strongest pick for Trump according to many conservatives.
Trump has referred to Vance as a “fighter” and Vance is the leader in the MAGA bloc of Senators that have backed the Trump agenda to the hilt.
Meanwhile, Rubio, Burgum, and Scott are all establishment Republicans more closely identified with the Mitch McConnell wing of the GOP.
But the decision is ultimately up to Trump.
