Donald Trump entered the final stages of his running mate selection process.
The shortlist took shape.
And Donald Trump announced this final Vice President decision.
The Republican donor class very much would like to see Donald Trump pick establishment RINO and former South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley as his running mate.
Haley is the champion for the donor class’s chief priorities – a blank check for the war in Ukraine, going left on social issues, and supporting globalist trade deals.
Picking Haley would mean the end of the Trump movement, as in 2028, Haley could restore the GOP of Mitt Romney and Liz Cheney.
And that’s exactly what the donor class – who opposed Trump in the contested 2016 and 2024 primaries – desires more than anything.
A big-money donor at a recent fundraiser asked Trump if he would name Haley as his running mate.
Trump instantly shot that suggestion down.
“She’s a very disloyal person,” Trump said.
Haley tried to write Trump out of the GOP following the events of January 6.
And then, after saying she wouldn’t enter the Presidential race if Trump ran for re-election, Haley ran against Trump.
Trump said he needed personal chemistry with his running mate.
“You have to like the person you’re running with, and I don’t like her. I don’t like her,” Trump continued.
And Trump also told the donor that adding Haley to the ticket didn’t bring any constituency he didn’t already have.
“All those people are going to come vote for us anyway. Who are they going to vote for? … I think if I picked Nikki Haley, it would look like such a weak decision,” Trump stated.
But Trump has a number of other candidates he is enthusiastic about.
“We have some unbelievable people,” Trump told Newsmax.
Trump then confirmed several names that were on the shortlist to be his running mate.
“I thought Tim Scott didn’t run as good of a race as he’s capable of running for himself, but as a surrogate for me, he’s unbelievable,” Trump continued.
“Governor Burgum from North Dakota has been incredible. Marco Rubio has been great. J.D. Vance has been great. We’ve had so many great people out there — Ben Carson,” Trump declared.
In addition to North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum, Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL), J.D. Vance (R-OH), and Tim Scott (R-SC), former Secretary of Housing and Urban Development Ben Carson, Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL), Congresswoman Elise Stefanik (R-NY), and Senator Tom Cotton (R-AR) also received Vice Presidential vetting papers.
Trump said he would announce his pick around the Republican National Convention which begins on July 15th.
