An article in the Daily Mail claiming Trump was regretting picking J.D. Vance as his running mate set Dan Bongino off.
Vance received rave reviews for his performance on the campaign trail and Sunday show circuit.
Trump has repeatedly praised Vance at every opportunity.
But Bongino believed the article was the result of internal bickering in Trump world.
“There’s a lot of internal sabotage going on right now that I honestly did not want to highlight because I like to stay focused on the Democrats and I was hoping it would go away. It’s not,” Bongino said on his podcast.
Bongino claimed supporters of candidates in the running to be Trump’s running mate were planting the anti-Vance stories to try and force Trump to dump Vance from the ticket and replace him with their choice.
“I suspect strongly this was a leak from people who wanted another candidate for vice president,” Bongino added.
Vance supports Donald Trump’s “America First” foreign policy and calls to end the war in Ukraine.
Establishment Republicans wanted a Ukraine warmonger on the ticket and seethed over the Vance selection.
Bongino pointed to Kellyanne Conway – who supported Senators Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Tim Scott (R-SC) – as a culprit in the anti-Vance leaks.
“Some of the other candidates were very interested in a more muscular posture in Ukraine where there was a lot of money to be made for a lot of people. JD Vance is interested in a more cautious approach to Ukraine,” Bongino declared.
“Instead of just shutting up and trying to win now with this great ticket, there are people out there sabotaging the ticket right now,” Bongino fumed.
Kellyanne Conway is now a registered agent of the Ukrainian government.
Conway is a lobbyist for a Ukrainian oligarch and Bongino warned Conway that she needed to cut out the backbiting.
“You’ve been warned,” Bongino declared.
“I’m going to say to Kellyanne and others: it’s time to pipe down. You’ve been warned. I’ve had about enough,” Bongino exclaimed.
