Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer is in a bad spot.

It’s damage control time.

And Chuck Schumer will break down in tears over this upsetting video.

New Hampshire Senator Jeanne Shaheen became the third Democrat incumbent to announce they would not be seeking re-election.

Shaheen joins Minnesota’s Tina Smith and Michigan’s Gary Peters in not seeking another term.

“There are urgent challenges, both here at home and around the world,” Shaheen told Granite State residents in a video announcing her decision.

Shaheen said she wasn’t stepping down immediately and would fulfill the last two years of her term.

“And while I’m not seeking reelection, believe me, I am not retiring,” Shaheen added. “I am determined to work every day over the next two years and beyond, to continue to try and make a difference for the people of New Hampshire and this country.”

“From the bottom of my heart, thank you, New Hampshire,” Shaheen said. “Listening to your stories, being your champion, working with you on the tough fights has been the honor of a lifetime, and we’ll keep at it.”

Shaheen’s retirement opens up another Senate seat in a state where Donald Trump ran competitively in both the 2016 and 2024 election.

The GOP establishment thinks the New Hampshire race is winnable if it can recruit pro-abortion former Governor Chris Sununu into the race.

Sununu passed on challenging Democrat Senator Maggie Hassan in 2022 foolishly thinking he could run for President in 2024.

It quickly dawned on Sununu that a pro-abortion RINO who called Trump crazy wouldn’t get very far in the GOP primary.

But now Sununu is reconsidering running for the Senate in 2026.

“I have not ruled it out completely, but folks in Washington have asked me to think about it and to consider it, and that is just kind of where I am,” Sununu told the Washington Times.

Sununu cited the Department of Government Efficiency’s plan to slash spending as motivating him to run for Senate.

“That makes me think, OK, maybe things are changing,” Sununu added. “Maybe there’s a path here.”

Democrats already face an uphill climb to win back the Senate.

Outside of North Carolina and Maine, there aren’t any realistic flip possibilities to get Democrats the four seats necessary to win back control of the chamber.

Republican Governor Brian Kemp is also seriously considering challenging Democrat Jon Ossoff in Georgia in a race where Kemp would likely enter as the favorite.

Now Democrats will have to play defense in states like Minnesota, New Hampshire, and Michigan, which will limit their ability to play offense.
