Conservatives are still grappling with Charlie Kirk’s murder.
Kirk was a giant in the conservative movement.
And Ted Cruz revealed a secret from his past about Charlie Kirk.
As American Media Watch Dog reports:
Ted Cruz Remembers His First Time Meeting Charlie Kirk
Charlie Kirk is gone, dead at 31 after being brutally gunned down in front of thousands of people at Utah Valley University by a young man who did not like his political views.
But his legacy will remain for a very long time, and people like Ted Cruz are reminiscing about their experiences with Kirk throughout the years.
Cruz recalled the first time he met Kirk, when Kirk was freshly out of high school and just getting into politics.
Kirk was unusually ambitious for someone who was just a teenager and had the audacity to start a national organization.
That organization, of course, was Turning Point USA, which turned into a political powerhouse on the right.
In the process, he met a lot of powerful people like Ted Cruz, and Cruz will never forget that first meeting.
He was impressed with Kirk’s optimism, and of course it did not take long for Kirk to start making a serious impact.
Kirk Was Only 18 Years Old at the Time
According to the Houston Chronicle, “U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz remembers clearly the first time he met Charlie Kirk.”
Here’s what Cruz said about that meeting: “He said, ‘Look, we are going to organize young people all over this country. We’re going to energize them to defend liberty, we’re going to energize them to love the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. We’re going to energize them to love America.’”
It’s clear that Cruz came away impressed, even if he had no idea whether Kirk actually had the resources or the knowledge to pull off the type of things that he was imagining.
Kirk was clearly a very smart kid, even at that age, and that was clear to the people who met him, including Ted Cruz.
The article continues, “Cruz went on to use his speech to encourage young people to not just have a vision, but to also be bold in pursuing it like Kirk.”
“That message was well received by legions of young Texas Republicans who say Kirk’s death is galvanizing their movement. Reporters Taylor Goldenstein and Haajrah Gilani talked to several of those in attendance about what Kirk’s life and his death means for them going forward.”
Kirk’s death is one of the most tragic things that has happened in America over the last several years and caught many people by surprise and delivered profound grief to millions.
It is not merely the fact that he died at such a young age, but the way that it happened, and the brutal and malicious violence that so many people were unfortunately subjected to watching.
Cruz, however, is choosing to remember the life of Kirk, and the good experiences he had with him over the years.
Hopefully the gory images of Kirk’s death will fade and the positive images of his legacy will remain in people’s minds for years to come.
