Democrats and the media thought the debate had the election all but wrapped up with a bow for Kamala Harris.

But then all hell broke loose.

And brutal new poll numbers left Kamala Harris wondering what just hit her.

Emerson College polling is one of the most accurate pollsters in America.

And every week, Emerson releases new polling from the seven battleground states both campaigns are contesting.

The polling Emerson put out the week after the debate demolished the media narrative that Kamala Harris scored a decisive victory that put her on a path to the presidency.

Executive director of Emerson College Polling, Spencer Kimball wrote that the polling in the seven battlegrounds showed a largely static race.

“There has been marginal movement in the presidential election since the late August Emerson swing state polls before the presidential debate,” Kimball wrote.

“In Arizona and North Carolina, Trump lost a point, and Harris gained a point. Trump’s support stayed the same in Michigan, Nevada, and Wisconsin, while Harris’ support decreased by a point in Michigan and Nevada, and stayed the same in Wisconsin. In Georgia, Trump gained two points and Harris lost two,” Kimball continued.

Another red flag for Kamala Harris and the Democrats came from the latest New York Times/Siena poll.

That survey found a tie race at 47 percent.

But one internal number buried inside the poll held peril for Kamala Harris.

The determining factor in this race is who can define Kamala Harris.

If Kamala Harris can fool voters into thinking she is the candidate of change despite being the Vice President who presided over the inflation and border crises, then she will win.

But if Donald Trump brands Kamala Harris as an out of the mainstream liberal, then Trump stands a strong chance of victory.

Going into the debate, the New York Times poll found around 30 percent still didn’t know enough about Kamala Harris.

That number was unchanged coming out of the debate.

“The share of voters who said they still wanted to learn more about Ms. Harris was nearly identical, both before and after the debate, suggesting that she might have missed an opportunity to address doubts or provide more details to the public,” the New York Times wrote about its poll.

The number of Americans needing to know more about Kamala Harris being unchanged tracked with Emerson’s poll showing the swing state numbers unchanged.
