Pope Leo and President Trump are at odds.
Their battle took a strange turn.
And now Pope Leo’s feud with Trump just got so ugly that no one could believe what happened next.

Pope Leo continues to speak out against President Trump’s decision to go to war with Iran, as well as Trump’s rhetoric.
Leo told reporters that Trump’s threats to annihilate Iran’s entire civilization were “unacceptable.”
“Today, as we all know, there has also been this threat against the entire people of Iran. And this is truly unacceptable! There are certainly issues of international law here, but even more, it is a moral question concerning the good of the people as a whole, in its entirety.”
Leo was referring to Trump’s Truth Social, threatening that a “civilization will die” unless Iran agreed to a deal to reopen the Strait of Hormuz.
“A whole civilization will die tonight, never to be brought back again. I don’t want that to happen, but it probably will. However, now that we have Complete and Total Regime Change, where different, smarter, and less radicalized minds prevail, maybe something revolutionarily wonderful can happen, WHO KNOWS? We will find out tonight, one of the most important moments in the long and complex history of the World. 47 years of extortion, corruption, and death will finally end. God Bless the Great People of Iran!” Trump wrote.
Trump later clarified that he never intended to strike Iran with nuclear weapons, and Iran eventually agreed to peace negotiations with the United States in Pakistan.
Leo’s also attacked the war in Iran as violating the Catholic Church’s “just war” doctrine, which holds that nations are justified in going to war in the case of self-defense and as a last resort.
“God does not bless any conflict. Anyone who is a disciple of Christ, the Prince of Peace, is never on the side of those who once wielded the sword and today drop bombs. Military action will not create space for freedom or times of #Peace, which comes only from the patient promotion of coexistence and dialogue among peoples,” Leo wrote on X.
The Trump administration defended President Trump’s foreign policy as consistent with the values of Catholics who voted to put him in office.
“All of President Trump’s foreign policy actions have made the world safer, more stable, and more prosperous,” a statement from White House spokeswoman Anna Kelly to Axios read. “Catholic Americans resoundingly supported President Trump in 2024, and the President’s administration has a positive relationship with the Vatican.”
Catholics are the swing vote in every election.
Trump won 56 percent of the Catholic vote in 2024, which proved vital in cracking the code in blue wall states like Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
But a recent Pew poll found that just 46 percent of Catholics support Trump’s agenda, which was down from 51 percent in 2025.
That same poll showed just 18 percent of Hispanic Catholics backed the Trump agenda.
There is still plenty of time for Trump to reverse these poll numbers before the election.
And many Catholic Trump supporters are wondering why the Pope isn’t also admonishing the left for Democrats supporting abortion on demand, the homosexual agenda, and trransgenderism, all of which run afoul of the Bible instead of just dinging Trump.
