Pete Hegseth Promises to Hold Generals Involved in Afghanistan Withdrawal Accountable

Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth received his first big assignment.

Hegseth only knew one way to respond.

And Pete Hegseth made one promise that had Donald Trump sit up and take notice.

The botched 2021 withdrawal from Afghanistan was a national disgrace from which Joe Biden’s presidency never recovered.

Americans watched their TVs in horror as people plummeted to their deaths after they fell off planes whose landing gear they clung to in an effort to escape the Taliban takeover.

Biden stranded thousands of Americans and left them for dead behind Taliban lines because Biden evacuated the military before civilians.

That disastrous blunder led to Biden staging a desperate rescue mission that left the troops Biden redeployed to safeguard the evacuation exposed out in the open.

13 brave soldiers died in a terrorist attack at the Kabul Airport thanks to Biden’s incompetence.

Biden then ordered a retaliatory drone strike to take out the terrorists responsible for the murderous attack.

But that turned into another fiasco as the drone bomb murdered a family of 10 including their seven children after it struck the wrong target.

At President Trump’s first cabinet meeting a reporter asked Trump if he planned to fire the generals responsible for the Afghanistan debacle.

Trump nodded to Secretary of Defense Hegseth and explained Hegseth was tasked with that responsibility, but made it clear his preference was firing everyone involved.

“I’m not going to tell this man what to do, but I will say that if I had his place, I’d fire every single one of them,” Trump stated.

Hegseth took his cue.

“We’re taking a very different view, obviously, than the previous administration,” Hegseth began.

Hegseth cited the promotion of retired Air Force Lt. Gen. John Dan “Razin” Caine – whom Hegseth made sure to note wasn’t involved in the withdrawal – to the position of Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff as a signal to the American people that there would be accountability in the Trump administration.

In addition, Hegseth said that the Defense Department was “doing a complete review of every single aspect of what happened” in the Afghanistan calamity and that those responsible would face “full accountability.”

President Trump knew how this investigation would end and predicted it wouldn’t end well for those who orchestrated the failed withdrawal from Afghanistan.

“I don’t see a big promotion in that group,” Trump predicted for the generals involved in the pullout. “I think I think they’re going to be largely gone.”

“That was a horrible display,” Trump concluded.

Joe Biden never fired anyone involved in this stain in America.

In fact, Biden defended the withdrawal.

And it was in that moment, during the summer of 2021, when many Americans accepted that Biden was completely mentally incompetent and his poll numbers never recovered.
