Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi led the coup that toppled Joe Biden as the Democrat Party nominee for President.
Within days, Democrat Party bosses anointed Kamala Harris as the nominee for President.
Now that Donald Trump crushed Kamala Harris in the election, everyone on the left wants to point the finger of blame at someone else.
Pelosi distanced herself from this fiasco in an interview with the New York Times.
The former Speaker of the House tossed both Kamala Harris and Joe Biden under the bus.
Pelosi faulted Biden for immediately endorsing Kamala Harris upon quitting the race.
“The anticipation was that, if the president were to step aside, that there would be an open primary,” Pelosi continued.
These comments confirmed earlier reporting by journalist Mark Halperin that Pelosi preferred an open primary to pick a new nominee.
Pelosi went on to allude to her belief that Kamala Harris was a weak candidate and that an open convention would have allowed the party to pick a more electable nominee.
“And as I say, Kamala may have, I think she would have done well in that and been stronger going forward. But we don’t know that. That didn’t happen. We live with what happened. And because the president endorsed Kamala Harris immediately, that really made it almost impossible to have a primary at that time. If it had been much earlier, it would have been different,” Pelosi added.
Pelosi’s post-election truth telling is a far cry from what she said during the campaign.
When Joe Biden quit the race, Pelosi told CBS’s Lesley Stahl that Biden was a historical figure worthy of getting his face added to Mount Rushmore.
“He was in a good place to make whatever decision – the top of his game,” Pelosi declared, saying Biden was “such a consequential president of the United States, a Mount Rushmore kind of president of the United States.”
As for the primary process, Pelosi claimed in a September interview with Semafor’s Kadia Goba that Kamala Harris was such a strong candidate no other Democrat dared to challenge her and that the party didn’t just rig the process to hand it to Kamala.
“We had an open primary and she won it,” Pelosi stated. “Nobody else got in the race.”
Nancy Pelosi got her way with forcing Joe Biden out of the race.
But now Pelosi doesn’t want to live with the consequences of her actions.
