Nancy Pelosi and Joe Biden were headed for a showdown.
The fight was over Pelosi maneuvering to force Joe Biden to abandon his Presidential campaign.
And all hell broke loose when Joe Biden made this resignation announcement.
Journalist Mark Halperin reported that Pelosi was getting all her ducks in a row to box Joe Biden into a corner where he had no choice but to end his Presidential campaign.
So far, Pelosi has operated in private.
“Nancy Pelosi is forcing Biden’s hand. She’s gone out of her way so far to make this process as painless for him as possible,” Halperin wrote on social media.
However, Halperin reported that Pelosi was ready to escalate to what she believed was the nuclear option if Biden didn’t bow to her pressure campaign.
“But she knows him well enough to know that he is one of the world’s worst and slowest decision makers, someone who will delay as long as possible before picking a path among unattractive options,” Halperin added.
“Which means she will do whatever it takes now to get the right forcing mechanisms in place,” Halperin concluded.
Biden tried to call Pelosi’s bluff.
“Biden officials are telling Democratic critics that President Biden is eager to prove them wrong and plans to hit the campaign trail once he recovers from COVID, with potential trips to Georgia and Texas in the coming days, according to people familiar with the matter,” Axios reports.
And just to make sure no one missed the message, the Biden campaign announced Biden would hold a fundraiser in Chicago – site of the Democratic National Convention – two days before the start of the virtual roll-call.

Biden made it seem like he wasn’t going out the easy way.
Biden has said 17 different ways from Sunday that he intended to be the nominee to take on Donald Trump.
Nancy Pelosi refused to accept that answer.
And Pelosi ended up winning when Biden shocked everyone by announcing out of the blue that he was dropping out of the race.
