Democrats settled on their plan to resist Donald Trump.
It’s as ugly as everyone expected.
And Donald Trump suffered one defeat that hit him like a ton of bricks.
As American Media Watchdog reports:
Donald Trump’s Agenda is Stymied by a Liberal Judge
One of the key successes from Donald Trump’s first term was appointing dozens conservative judges to the bench.
But after four years of Joe Biden, Trump is going to have to get back to work stacking the bench with conservatives.
This became clear after one Democrat-appointed judge blocked Trump’s plan to buy out federal employees in an effort to streamline the government and save money.
Trump was trying to clean up government bureaucracy, and he admirably did it in a way where employees could voluntarily buy themselves out.
Many people assumed Trump would just go on a firing spree, but that’s not what he did at all, and he gave these employees autonomy over their own fates.
Despite that, a liberal judge decided to interfere with Trump’s plan, and now everything is up in the air regarding whether this can move forward at all.
Judge Block Trump’s Plan to Buy Out Federal Employees
According to Reuters, “A U.S. judge on Thursday temporarily blocked the Trump administration’s proposed buyout for federal workers until at least Monday, giving an initial win to labor unions that sued to stop it.”
“Even as the program was stayed, more than 60,000 federal employees have already accepted the buyout offer, a White House source told Reuters.”
Clearly the people accepting the buyout thought it was in their best interest to do so, which raises major red flags about the motivations of the union who sued the administration.
It would be understandable for the union to be upset if Trump went on a firing spree, but he did not. He gave people the choice, and apparently now the union wants to strip people of that choice.
The article continues, “The ruling by U.S. District Judge George O’Toole in Boston pushes back a midnight deadline set by the Trump administration, which is pressuring federal workers to leave their jobs in an unprecedented drive to overhaul the federal government.”
“The buyout effort is part of a far-reaching plan by President Donald Trump and his allies to both rein in and reduce the size of the federal bureaucracy, which Trump blames for stymieing his agenda during his first presidential term.”
Judge O’Toole was a Bill Clinton appointee, which highlights the importance of Trump getting as many new conservative judges on the bench as possible.
These judges will presumably be less hostile to the administration, more open to efforts to make government more efficient, and also better on issues like abortion to boot.
But Trump has a limited time to get this done, so he needs to start now.
No one knows what the 2026 midterm has in store, so Trump should nominate these judges while he has the Senate.
Until then, he will have to duke it out with Democrat-appointed judges in court over key issues like this.
