Kellyanne Conway found that out once again.
And Kellyanne Conway had one question about a major Donald Trump ultimatum.
Donald Trump has made reacquiring the Panama Canal a key plank in his foreign policy agenda.
America built the Panama Canal in 1914 and operated it until Jimmy Carter handed it over in 1977.
The Panama Canal is a critical shipping lane that links the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
But now it’s in danger of falling into the hands of Communist China as the Chinese exert greater influence in the region.
Panama is also charging higher shipping rates.
Donald Trump sees this as an affront to both American prosperity and national security.
And in a post on Truth Social, Trump announced his intention to see the United States retake control of the Panama Canal.
“The United States has a vested interest in the secure, efficient, and reliable operation of the Panama Canal, and that was always understood,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
“We would and will NEVER let it fall into the wrong hands! It was not given for the benefit of others, but merely as a token of cooperation with us and Panama. If the principles, both moral and legal, of this magnanimous gesture of giving are not followed, then we will demand that the Panama Canal be returned to us, in full, and without question. To the Officials of Panama, please be guided accordingly!” Trump continued.
While filling in for Sean Hannity on Fox News, Kellyanne Conway asked Tennessee Senator Marsha Blackburn on her thoughts about Trump’s demand that Panama hand control of the canal back to the United States as well his proposed purchase of Greenland as a bulwark against Communist China and Russia.
Blackburn told Conway that the voters handed Donald Trump a mandate and that he was correct in interpreting it as the go-ahead to carry out his America First agenda in foreign policy.
“Kellyanne, the American people have given President Trump a mandate. They are tired of our nation not putting Americans first. And we have seen the Biden administration have an America-last policy. So, when it comes to dealing with the Panama Canal and making certain that China is not being advantaged in this, and America disadvantaged, of course. Let’s put this issue on the table and talk about it,” Blackburn stated.
Greenland is home to a key space force base.
It’s also strategically located and allows the United States to maintain its defensive posture against aggressor nations.
Blackburn said President-elect Trump was correct to seek purchase of Greenland as it would help ensure America’s national security.
“When you talk about securing our nation, that is where Greenland comes into the conversation, and being strategic and how we’re going to keep this nation safe. That is what Americans want to see,” Blackburn concluded.
