Kamala Harris found herself boxed in.
And there was only one way out.
Kamala Harris just made this public confession that will take your breath away.
Right after Donald Trump wrapped up the GOP nomination with 14 landslide wins on Super Tuesday, he turned his attention to the general election.
Trump immediately proposed debating Joe Biden anytime, anywhere, anyplace.
“It is important, for the Good of our Country, that Joe Biden and I Debate Issues that are so vital to America, and the American People. Therefore, I am calling for Debates, ANYTIME, ANYWHERE, ANYPLACE! The Debates can be run by the Corrupt DNC, or their Subsidiary, the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD). I look forward to receiving a response. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump posted on Truth Social.
Trump was setting a carefully laid trap and the Democrats walked right into it.
NBC’s Pete Alexander asked Kamala Harris if Biden would commit to debating Trump.
“Mr. Trump has challenged the president to debate him anytime, anywhere, any place. Will President Biden commit to debating Donald Trump?” Alexander asked.
Harris ignored the question and planted the seeds for Biden to duck the debate by falsely claiming Trump was a dictator.
“I haven’t talked to the president about that yet. But I will tell you something if you want to look at the split screen to understand what is at stake. On the one hand, you’ve got Joe Biden, someone who is competent, who is principled, who has accomplished more than many presidents even hoped for, be it on infrastructure, on climate, on health care. On the other side of that split screen, you’ve got the former president, who glorifies dictators and has said he’ll be a dictator on day one. Someone who has said that he will weaponize the Department of Justice against his political enemies.”
Harris’ suggestion that Trump would weaponize the justice system – when it’s the Democrats using the federal courts to bankrupt Trump, seize all his properties, and lock him up until he dies – was particularly rich.
But Alexander – to his credit – wouldn’t let Harris off that easy.
“Should President Biden debate him in your view?” Alexander followed up.
Harris once again refused to give a firm “yes.”
“That is a choice. This is going to be decided upon soon, and we will keep you posted,” Harris responded.
“Will you commit to a debate?” Alexander tried one more time.
But Harris wouldn’t budge.
“Peter, we just got through the State of the Union. And I’m just so excited about what we accomplished last night and our president,” Harris said.
Debates became a staple of Presidential campaigns beginning in 1976.
And, as the candidate trailing in the polls, it would stand to reason that Biden should want to debate Trump and prove his competency.
But this is no ordinary set of circumstances.
Joe Biden’s handlers didn’t even let him sit for a softball interview with CBS during the Super Bowl pregame show because they’re afraid he’ll go comatose and forget who he is or where he is.
Biden’s handlers don’t trust him to answer unscripted questions in even the friendliest of settings.
At fundraisers and press conferences, Biden knows to call on pre-selected reporters so Biden’s team can prepare notecards with answers written out in big block type for Biden to read.
If Biden must stand onstage for three 90-minute debates with Trump, the chances of Biden claiming he spoke with Winston Churchill about the war in Europe increased dramatically.
Kamala Harris is all but confirming that the Biden campaign knows he’s too senile to risk putting on the debate stage.
So they’re laying the groundwork for skipping the debates on the basis that Trump is an insurrectionist and a threat to democracy, and it would be beneath the President of the United States to share the stage with such a person.
