Ilhan Omar’s career has been dogged by controversy ever since entering Congress.
Omar didn’t expect her latest run for re-election to take this path.
And Ilhan Omar couldn’t believe the weird turn her career just took.
As American Media Watchdog reports:
Ilhan Omar Has Been a Target in Democratic Primaries for Years
Having people like Ilhan Omar, or any of the other members of the left-wing “Squad,” in major positions of power in America is not a good thing for the country.
Even though it might be beneficial to the Republican Party in a short-term way, because people like Omar are radioactive in general elections, it is harmful to the society as a whole.
This is because America is a two-party system and there will come a time when Democrats are back in power.
But it makes a great deal of difference which Democrats are in power.
Will they be normal liberals in the vein of John Fetterman or Chuck Schumer? Or will they be socialist radicals like Omar or Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez?
Many people were hoping Omar could be taken out in a primary, as she’s had tough primary battles in the past.
But the latest news seems to indicate that she might not face a primary challenge in 2026 at all.
Omar May Not Face a Challenge at All in 2026
According to the Minnesota Star Tribune, “Four years after narrowly surviving a primary challenge, DFL Rep. Ilhan Omar looks increasingly unlikely to face major opposition on her way to winning a fifth term representing her deep blue district.”
“Both Omar’s supporters and detractors say it will be difficult to beat her next year in the Fifth District, even if national campaign groups spend money to try and influence the race. Her national fundraising, name ID and strength as a candidate when she’s opposing President Donald Trump will make her more difficult to topple.”
It would certainly have been good for the country to get an extremist like Omar out of Congress and replace her with someone normal.
Even if that person was a Democrat with liberal views, it would at least help to have someone who doesn’t cozy up to socialists. But apparently that will not happen.
The article continues, “She’s also receiving an early boost from Gov. Tim Walz, Attorney General Keith Ellison and Sens. Amy Klobuchar and Tina Smith, who are backing her together for the first time, another sign of the congresswoman’s institutional support within the state.”
“Top-tier candidates are bowing out of the race. Samuels, who lost to Omar the last two cycles but came closer than anyone to defeating her, said he won’t run again in 2026. Former House DFL Majority Leader Ryan Winkler, who was seen as another formidable contender, also told the Minnesota Star Tribune he has no plans to run.”
It is unfortunate that nobody will even take a chance at taking her on in the upcoming primary next year.
There’s no doubt she will be tough to beat.
But if nobody runs against her, that is a guarantee that she will remain in office and continue causing damage.
Perhaps if somebody took the risk of taking her on, the voters would surprise everybody and remove her.
