And Kamala Harris hates Barack Obama for a reason that no one saw coming.
It turns out it wasn’t just Joe Biden’s senility that the media covered up and tried to lie about.
When Kamala Harris replaced Joe Biden on the presidential ticket, the media propped Kamala up with rockstar treatment, exclaiming things like she was bringing “joy” back into American politics and that it was going to be a “brat girl summer.”
But the media hid the truth about what Democrats really thought about Kamala.
In Jonathan Allen and Amie Parnes’ new book, “FIGHT: Inside the Wildest Battle for the White House,” the authors reveal there was a massive concern that Kamala was an awful candidate even at the very top levels of the Democrat Party.
Allen told MSNBC that Obama wanted Biden out of the race following the June 27 debate.
But Obama also worked behind the scenes to make sure Kamala wouldn’t be the nominee as he understood she was an awful candidate.
“President Obama absolutely did not think that Joe Biden should continue, according to our sources close to President Obama and he also didn’t want Kamala Harris to be the replacement for Biden,” Allen stated.
Allen added that Obama pushed for an open convention or primary to select a new Democrat standard bearer.
“He didn’t think that she was the best choice for Democrats, and he worked really behind the scenes for a long time to try to have a mini-primary, or an open convention, or a mini-primary leading to an open convention. [He] did not have faith in her ability to win the election,” Allen added.
This is something Obama himself alluded to in a Medium post following Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the race.
“But I have extraordinary confidence that the leaders of our party will be able to create a process from which an outstanding nominee emerges,” Obama wrote on the day Biden quit the race.
Obama then lined up a phone call with influential South Carolina Congressman James Clyburn, whose endorsement of Joe Biden in 2020 won Biden the South Carolina primary in landslide fashion and set Biden on the path to the nomination.
Allen said Clyburn knew exactly why Obama was calling and rushed to publicly endorse Kamala Harris as quickly as possible.
“In one moment, he had set up a phone call with Congressman [James] Clyburn from South Carolina on the day that Joe Biden handed off the baton to Kamala Harris, and Obama had set up a call with Clyburn for like 5:30 that afternoon. And Clyburn thought to himself, this guy is going to try to rope me into the open convection thing, I better get my endorsement of Harris out there fast so this is a short conversation,” Allen went on to say.
The media never reported any of this at the time because it saw only two framings for a story: does this help Kamala Harris and or does this hurt Kamala Harris.
Negative stories got buried.
Had the press reported at the time that Democrats like Barack Obama saw Kamala Harris as an incompetent likely to lose the election, it could have hurt Democrat enthusiasm and cost the Democrats down-the-ballot in Senate races like the close contests they narrowly won in Michigan and Wisconsin.
