People were uncomfortable hearing what Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez just said.

She made some strange comments at a public event.

And she left many people scratching their heads.

Kamala Harris’s husband, Doug Emhoff, is in a strange and unprecedented position in American politics as possibly becoming the first “First Man” of the United States.

His situation is made even more unusual by the fact he and Harris have not actually been married for that long.

They tied the knot in 2014 – only ten years ago.

He’s not been as significant a presence on the campaign trail as most spouses would normally be and he’s had some major scandals come out during the campaign.

But Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez wants people to look at him differently and she took some time to boost him up during a recent stop on the campaign trail.

She was trying to get people excited about Emhoff being the potential “First Man,” but the way she worded her statements came off awkward and strange.

According to Breitbart, “Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) gushed over Second Gentleman Doug Emhoff on Wednesday night applauding him as the very model of modern masculinity at a campaign event for his wife Kamala Harris.”

“‘He’s not afraid to embody and pass on these values of security and this idea that you can, you can let your girl shine,’ Ocasio-Cortez told a room full of students at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, according to the Daily Mail.”

The comments by Ocasio-Cortez are not the first time various liberals have written or said bizarrely glowing things about Emhoff.

The article continues, “AOC echoes previous media backing for Emhoff with the Washington Post publishing an opinion piece in August calling him a ‘modern-day sex symbol,’ ‘fantasy man,’ and ‘ideal partner.’”

“Catherine Rampell, a political columnist at the Post and CNN commentator, wrote, ‘Move over, Ryan Gosling. The modern female fantasy is embodied by the man who might soon become our first First Gentleman.’”

“Rampell argued Emhoff is ‘sexy’ because he is ‘secure enough with his own masculinity to sometimes prioritize his wife’s ambitions over his own.’”

The fact people feel the need to write things like that about someone else’s husband is suspicious.

And while Ocasio-Cortez’s comments didn’t go that far, people still felt some cringe with what she said.

If Kamala Harris wants to bring Doug Emhoff around on the campaign trail, she can certainly do that.

But there is no reason for people to go overboard in their compliments of him and try to prop him up as a paragon of masculinity or a modern-day sex symbol.
