The Supreme Court just dealt Trump a major blow on immigration.
A path is now open for Congress to settle the fight.
Trump’s reaction left even his critics stunned.
As West Wing Daily reports:
Barrett colluded with Chief Justice John Roberts and the court’s three leftist justices to deal Trump a massive setback by striking down his executive order ending birthright citizenship for babies born to illegal aliens.
This ruling means a future Democrat President can throw open the border to illegal aliens, taking advantage of the citizenship loophole Barrett helped create to give birth to American citizens who can vote and suck up welfare benefits.
Immigration is President Trump’s signature issue, so political observers expected fireworks from Trump similar to how he slammed Barrett and Neil Gorsuch as disloyal for ruling against him in a case that struck down his reciprocal tariffs.
Instead, Trump didn’t attack Barrett by name and even stated the court treated the Republican Party “very fairly” this term.
Trump’s basis for that statement was a case he won, which allowed him to fire appointees from so-called “independent agencies,” a ruling that allowed him to purge liberal bureaucrats and deep state operatives who obstructed his agenda.
“It is an Honor to be the sitting President who, after all these years, WON this very important and hard-fought case. We had other good Victories, too, and we also had the Birthright Citizenship loss, which we will work to correct in Congress, but the big SLAUGHTER was SLAUGHTER. The Republican Party was treated very fairly by the United States Supreme Court. Thank you for your attention to this matter!” Trump wrote on Truth Social.
The ruling in the birthright citizenship case also isn’t the final word on this matter.
Justice Kavanaugh wrote that while he thought an executive order ending birthright citizenship was unconstitutional, Congress could pass a law eliminating birthright citizenship for babies born to illegal aliens.
Trump latched on to Kavanaugh’s dissent to immediately announce his full support for Republicans in Congress to pass legislation undoing this awful ruling.
“The Supreme Court upheld Birthright Citizenship, which is too bad for our Country, but we can easily make it up in Congress through Legislation, with the support of the President, who has now been determined during this process. No long and unwieldy Constitutional Amendment is necessary! Congress should start TODAY to work on ending expensive and unfair birthright citizenship in our country. They will have my Complete and Total Support!” Trump also wrote on Truth Social.
