The SAVE Act is President Trump’s top legislative priority.
But everything just fell into chaos.

President Trump declared that he wouldn’t sign any bills until the Senate passed the SAVE Act.

I, as President, will not sign other Bills until this is passed, AND NOT THE WATERED-DOWN VERSION – GO FOR THE GOLD: MUST SHOW VOTER I.D. & PROOF OF CITIZENSHIP: NO MAIL-IN BALLOTS EXCEPT FOR MILITARY – ILLNESS, DISABILITY, TRAVEL: NO MEN IN WOMEN’S SPORTS: NO TRANSGENDER MUTILATION FOR CHILDREN! DO NOT FAIL!!!” Trump posted to Truth Social.
Trump said the SAVE Act will eliminate election fraud by requiring voter ID, proof of citizenship to register to vote, and banning mail-in voting.
House Republicans passed the SAVE Act.
But the SAVE Act is languishing in the Senate because RINO Majority Leader John Thune is allowing Democrats to filibuster the SAVE Act.
Republicans could circumvent the 60-vote requirement by forcing the Democrats to stage a talking filibuster.
Democrats could hold the floor for as long as each Senator could stand for 2 speeches.
Once each Democrat speaks twice, Republicans could then pass the SAVE Act with a simple majority vote.
The path exists to pass the SAVE Act.
But Thune shut it down, telling reporters that he didn’t think a talking filibuster was possible because Republicans would need 51 votes to table amendments Democrats offered.
“The talking filibuster issue is one on which there is not, certainly, a unified Republican conference, and there would have to be,” Thune stated.
“If you go down that path, you’re talking about the need to table what are going to be numerous amendments and an ability to keep 50 Republicans unified, pretty much on every single vote. And there’s just not, there isn’t support for doing that at this point,” Thune added.
The SAVE Act is the centerpiece of President Trump’s agenda and is supported by an overwhelming number of Americans.
Thune is killing the bill because establishment Republicans secretly hope Democrats win the 2026 and 2028 elections.
Once Democrats seize power, establishment Republicans think they can expel Trump and his MAGA movement from the party.
Even establishment RINOs like John Cornyn, who is begging Trump to endorse him in his Senate primary runoff, are offering excuses as to why the Senate can’t meet President Trump’s objective to pass the SAVE Act through a talking filibuster.
“My understanding is that it would require 51 votes to table amendments. So, No. 1, you need 51 senators on the floor, and you need all of them willing to vote to table the amendment. That obviously can be problematic from several standpoints,” Cornyn said in an interview with NBC News.
“One, you might not be able to defeat them. And secondly, this process could go on for literally weeks, if not months, and still not be successful,” Cornyn added.
Defeatsit attitudes like the ones of Cornyn and Thune are why conservatives turned against the party establishment and elected Donald Trump in the first place.
Cornyn and Thune know that refusing to pass the SAVE Act will demoralize conservatives.
It doesn’t look like they care.
