Karine Jean-Pierre’s struggles during White House press briefings are legendary.
But one performance stood out as particularly mortifying.
And Karine Jean-Pierre made a fool of herself in this awful display.
Joe Biden is now repeatedly lying in interviews, claiming that inflation was up by nine percent when Donald Trump was in office and Biden now has it down to three percent.
“Inflation was at 9 percent when I came in and it’s now down around 3 percent,” Biden falsely claimed in a May 14 interview with Yahoo Finance.
“No president’s had the run we have had, in terms of creating jobs and bringing down inflation. It was 9 percent when I came to office, 9 percent,” Biden lied during a May 8 interview with CNN.
“We have dramatically reduced inflation from 9 percent down to close to 3 percent. We’re in a situation where we’re better situated than we were when we took office where inflation was skyrocketing,” Biden wrongly asserted during a May 10 press conference with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
Fox News Business correspondent Edward Lawrence asked White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre if Biden was simply lying to the American people or if his cognitive abilities had become so poor that he just couldn’t remember basic facts.
“I wanna ask you about how the President talks about inflation. So, two times over the past two weeks, the President said inflation was nine percent when he came into office. Is the President misleading Americans on that? Or does it — just not realize that inflation was 1.4 percent when he came into office?” Lawrence wondered.
In attempt to answer the question, Jean-Pierre concocted a preposterous defense of Biden’s lies by falsely claiming that Donald Trump had created the conditions for rising inflation.
“So, you know — and — and thank you for the question, because I know that this — we got a lot of incoming on this yesterday and look, I — what the President was — the point that he was making — uh — is that the factors that caused inflation were in place when he walked in — into the administration — when he took office,” Jean-Pierre declared.
Lawrence aptly pointed out that the pandemic was well underway in 2020 and that inflation didn’t start surging until 2021 – when Biden was in office.
But Jean-Pierre wouldn’t budge on this ridiculous talking point.
“Annualized core PCP in the second term of 2021 was nine percent. And so, he was talking about the factors that were in place that led to — that led to that and look — and I said this earlier, going to say it again, we’re going to do everything as we’re talking about CPI, we’re going to do everything that we can — this President is committed to doing everything that we can to fight inflation and that’s what the President was trying to speak to,” Jean-Pierre added.
Inflation began to spike in April of 2021.
That date is important because, in March 2021, Biden signed a $1.9 trillion socialist spending bill into law that even liberal economists cautioned would blow the inflation genie out of the bottle.
Biden ignored those warnings and now owns the inflation crisis that resulted from his reckless spending.
