The U.S. military was one of the last institutions remaining that hadn’t yet fallen under the sway of the left’s cultural revolution.
That began to change in 2015 when Barack Obama opened all combat roles up to women.
Obama also imposed gender-neutral fitness standards so that women could pass physical fitness tests.
Under Obama and Joe Biden, the military began to implement DEI programs, and a generation of woke generals who prioritized race, sex, and transgenderism over military readiness rose through the ranks.
President Trump believed the purpose of the U.S. military is to protect American freedom and not serve as a laboratory for social engineering.
As part of the reforms to return America to being the world’s most lethal fighting force, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth ended the gender-neutral fitness standards and DEI programs.
Hegseth explained his reasoning in a speech to hundreds of generals, admirals and officers at Quantico.
Hegseth told the brass that any programs that Obama and Biden imposed that lowered standards to achieve racial or gender quotas were history.
“Any place where tried and true physical standards were altered, especially since 2015 when combat arms standards were changed to ensure females could qualify, must be returned to their original standard. Other standards have been manipulated to hit racial quotas as well, which is just as unacceptable,” Hegseth began.
Hegseth said the military was returning to male-only fitness standards to ensure that only the fittest, strongest, and most capable war fighters would serve in combat roles.
Hegseth then said if generals or officers had an issue with him purging woke ideology from the military, the door was right there, and they should resign.
“But if the words I’m speaking today are making your heart sink? Do the honorable thing and RESIGN. We would thank you for your service,” Hegseth added.
“We need you locked in on the M. Not the D, the E, or the I…the Military,” Hegseth continued.
However, Hegseth told the brass that he expected few resignations because he believed they shared his love of the military and commitment to defending America.
“But I suspect the overwhelming majority of you feel the opposite…you love the War Department, because you love what you do…you are hereby liberated to be an apolitical, hard-charging constitutional leader that you joined the military to be,” Hegseth stated.
Hegseth then described a series of “reckless” policies that woke civilians imposed in the military, such as the falsehood that there are no physical differences between men and women, allowing transgender individuals in the military, and vaccine mandates, that Hegseth argued weakened military readiness.
“An entire generation of generals and admirals were told that they must the parrot the insane fallacy that ‘our diversity is our strength! They were told females and males are the same thing! Or that males who think they’re females – totally normal. Told to kick out Americans who refused an emergency vaccine.” Hegseth declared.
President Trump and Secretary of War Hegseth held this meeting to inform the military leadership that a new day was upon and that the woke culture was out and the warfighter culture was in.
