Barack Obama and George W. Bush are part of the swamp. The two weren’t happy that Trump won re-election. And what Barack Obama said to George Bush in private left Americans stunned into disbelief. As Conservative Reboot reports: Obama Makes a Questionable Comment at the Inauguration Barack Obama attended the inauguration of Donald Trump, in keeping with the tradition of luminaries from both parties attending the swearing-in of every new president. The fact that he did this is a good thing, as it shows that he was able to put aside his feelings against Trump out of respect for the country. However, while he was there, he apparently said some very concerning things. Trump leaned over to former President Bush and suggested that he wanted to somehow stop the inauguration proceedings. His statement appeared to be tongue-in-cheek, but such a joke is totally inappropriate in a setting like that. The fact that Trump had just been the victim of not one but two assassination attempts makes it even worse. Obama surely wasn’t suggesting that should happen to Trump again, but the joke was still inappropriate in light of all the things that have taken place. Lip Reader Apparently Picks Up on What He Said According to Newsweek, “A lip reader has posted a video online claiming that Barack Obama asked George W. Bush how they could ‘stop what’s happening’ during President Donald Trump‘s inauguration.” “In a now-viral video on TikTok, Jackie Gonzalez, a deaf woman who posts her interpretations of politicians’ and celebrities’ private discussions on social media, revealed what she thought happened during the exchange.” There’s no way to definitively know that Obama said the things Gonzalez claims that he did, but the video does seem to back it up. Furthermore, Obama has not denied that he said this despite the video gaining significant traction online in the days since. The article continues, “According to Gonzalez, Obama said ‘Good to see you’ as he took his place at the inauguration and thanked the audience when they burst into applause. As the applause continued, he turned to Bush and asked, ‘How can we stop what’s happening?’ before Bush started to laugh.” “Obama and Trump, who have been fiercely critical of one another, were spotted laughing and chatting as they sat next to each other in a moment that took the internet by storm.” Obama has always been the type of guy who seems to care a lot about being liked by people, and the fact that he would act differently around Trump and around Bush is par for the course. A lot of politicians have this type of personality, as the job entails being liked by the highest number of people possible to win an election, and Obama is certainly no different. But even aside from that, he simply should not have made a joke about stopping the inauguration at the actual inauguration itself. It’s far too easy for such a joke to be taken the wrong way, especially after multiple deranged people tried to take Trump’s life in the final months of the campaign.
