NFL Picks Anti-ICE Rapper Bad Bunny for Super Bowl Halftime Show

The NFL started another needless culture war fight.

Fans’ blood is boiling.

And the NFL went woke for the Super Bowl and is paying this huge price.

As American Media Watchdog reports:

Puerto Rican rapper Bad Bunny is the star act of the Super Bowl halftime show.

Performing at halftime of the Super Bowl is the prime gig in American entertainment as the halftime show is the peak viewership of the most-watched show in the country.

Bad Bunny was the most-streamed artist in the world from 2020 to 2022, and only lost that spot in 2023 and 2024 to Taylor Swift.

But Bad Bunny is also a controversial pick.

Bad Bunny doesn’t have a single song in English.

And Bad Bunny recently announced he wouldn’t hold any concerts in the United States during his current world tour because he’s afraid ICE agents will station outside the arena and arrest fans of his who are illegal aliens.

Conservatives slammed the NFL, saying the league’s picking an anti-ICE activist to perform at the Super Bowl was another thumb in the eye of its fans in rural America.

Bad Bunny addressed the backlash to his selection when he hosted Saturday Night Live.

“I’m very excited to be doing the Super Bowl. And I know that people all around the world who love my music are also happy, especially todo Latinos,” Bad Bunny said in his monologue.

Bad Bunny then switched to speaking Spanish and claimed he was paying tribute to Latino artists who came before him.

“(IN SPANISH) Latinos and Latinas all over the world and here in the United States, all the people who have worked to open doors more than an achievement of mine. More than an achievement of mine, it’s an achievement for everyone, showing that our footprint and our contribution in this country, no one will ever be able to take it out or erase it,” Bad Bunny added.

Bad Bunny then made it clear he wasn’t going to perform any songs in English at the Super Bowl, and the broader American public would have put aside the fact that English is the dominant language in the United States and accommodate him.

“And if you didn’t understand what I just said… You have four months to learn,” Bad Bunny declared.

This attitude didn’t go over very well with those on the right.

From Colin Kaepernick’s anti-American national anthem protest to the league embracing the Black Lives Matter movement in 2020 to promoting an anti-ICE activist at halftime of the Super Bowl, the NFL continually comes down on the left side of America’s big culture war fights.
