It’s an election year.
That means Democrats are desperate for any edge against President Trump.
And Chuck Schumer will live to regret making this ultimatum.
As American Patriot Daily reports:
Gun grabbers jump at the chance to turn mass shootings into an attempt at emotional blackmail.
The anti-gun left is never upset at these tragedies; rather, they view it as a chance to bully Republicans into caving in to gun control demands or risk being called heartless.
Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer seized on an Islamic terror attack in Australia’s Bondi Beach that killed 12 and a madman killing two at Brown University to call for more gun control.
Schumer applauded the Australian government for announcing new gun control measures as an example America should follow.
“If Australia can find courage to act after a tragedy like the one at Bondi Beach, Congress should certainly find the will to act after a tragedy like the one at Brown University,” Schumer declared
Schumer added that “…Congress must again act against gun violence and act against all forms of violent hate.”
Australia already has the strictest gun control laws in the world.
In 1996, Australia confiscated 700,000 firearms and imposed licensing, registration, and universal background check schemes.
All failed to prevent the Bondi Beach massacre.
The only policy that would have prevented the tragic loss of life in Australia was a ban on Muslim immigration.
Schumer also neglected to mention that Brown University is a gun-free zone and that the killer used a handgun, the type of firearm Democrats claim they don’t want to ban.
And Schumer certainly didn’t want to touch journalist Mark Halpern’s report that the shooting at Brown was potentially yet another act of left-wing political terrorism, as the shooter may have targeted victim Ella Cook because she was the Vice President of Brown’s College Republican Chapter.
“I believe in being transparent here. If I were editing The New York Times, I don’t think I’d put it in the paper,” Halperin said on his 2-way platform.
“But people are telling me that the family of Ella Cook, the Alabama young woman who was a sophomore, has been told that she was the target of what happened at Brown. I have no idea whether that’s true. There are other theories about why the person did what they did. And since we don’t know who the assailant is, it’s going to be harder to say. But if it’s true that she was targeted, that’s a big story because she was one of the most visible conservatives on that campus,” Halperin concluded.
