AOC Leans Into the Idea of Running for President in 2028

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made it clear from the start she wasn’t going to be a lifer in the House of Representatives.

But Ocasio-Cortez is plotting her biggest career move yet.

And Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is sitting on one 2028 bombshell that will hit you like a truck.

As Swamp Digest reports:

Democrats like rumored 2028 Presidential candidate Congressman Ro Khanna made waves by telling reporters that Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) capitulating to President Trump was the last straw and that Schumer should step down as their leader in the Senate.

The media then ran to Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) for her response to Schumer’s surrender.

Polls showed Ocasio-Cortez would trounce Schumer by 19 points in a primary.

And many political insiders believe Schumer only provoked the shutdown to appease the leftwing base in hopes of forestalling Ocasio-Cortez from primarying him.

But Ocasio-Cortez delivered an eyebrow-raising response to questions about Schumer’s status as Democrat Senate leader that showed she was looking at a bigger prize in 2028.

Ocasio-Cortez claimed the problem was bigger than Schumer, claiming that the shutdown defeat showed a party unwilling to fight President Trump.

“I think what is so important for folks to understand is that this problem is bigger than one person, and it actually is bigger than the minority leader in the Senate. You had eight Senate Democrats who coordinated their own votes on this, as well as you have two retiring members,” Ocasio-Cortez began.

Ocasio-Cortez argued Democrats needed new blood to push the party in a more socialist direction.

“Many of them are also up in several cycles from now, with the hope that people are going to forget this moment. And I think what’s important is that we understand that this is actually—this is not just a leader—it’s a reflection of the party. And Senate Democrats have selected their leadership to represent them. And so the question needs to be bigger than just one person,” Ocasio-Cortez added.

Ocasio-Cortez then ducked any response to if she planned to primary Schumer and instead called on Democrat voters to elect officials who would wage total war on Republicans.

“We have several Senate primaries this cycle. I know I’m being asked about New York; that is years from now. I have to remind my own constituents, because they think that this election is this year—we actually do have Senate elections this year. And my hope is that people across this country actually participate in their primary elections in selecting their leadership. Thank you,” Ocasio-Cortez concluded.

Political parties take their direction from the top.

The President charts the course for his party and picks candidates he wants to see run for office.

And the easiest way for Ocasio-Cortez to effect the change she wants to see in the Democrat Party is to run for President in 2028.
