Bill O’Reilly Explains the Split Between Carlson and Megyn Kelly with Trump
O’Reilly, Carlson and Kelly were once the pillars of Fox News.
All supported President Trump, and all considered him a friend.
But the three also represented the disagreements among some Trump supporters over the war with Iran.
Carlson and Kelly opposed the war while O’Reilly supported it.
Piers Morgan asked O’Reilly about the schism in conservative media over Iran.
O’Reilly claimed that Carlson and Kelly were opinion personalities who offered their take on world events, whereas O’Reilly said he passed along his analysis with reported evidence based on his personal conversations with Trump or Israeli intelligence, which O’Reilly said he made clear to his audience.
“Well, look, I can’t speak for them as far as their motivation is concerned. I can tell you that they’re not journalists! None of them are. They are personalities and very successful personalities. So, I mean, I back up everything I say by conversations with the president of the United States, one-on-one. Or the Pentagon, or Mossad, or whatever the weapons inspectors in Austria, or wherever vehicle is going to give me information. And I pass that information along to my viewers and listeners,” O’Reilly stated.
O’Reilly’s Take on the War with Iran
O’Reilly said he operated outside of party politics and just wanted the Iran war to end in victory since Iran counted the Iranian regime as one of America’s great enemies.
“I’m not in it for clicks. We make an extraordinary amount of money because we present a very, very methodical analysis of what is happening. We’re not involved with party politics; I couldn’t care less about the parties. I just want the Iran thing to stop. I want the United States and every other country to have an element of safety against these terrorists in Iran. I wrote a book, Confronting Evil, okay? Ayatollahs on a cover with Hitler, and Mao, and Putin. And they’re all evil, and they’ll all kill you in a heartbeat. And if you get an opportunity to take them out… You do it,” O’Reilly added.
O’Reilly explained that Trump thought he had to wipe out the Iranian regime and solve the problem that bedeviled American Presidents for 47 years and took the shot.
But the regime didn’t fall, and O’Reilly said Trump realized the war with Iran proved to be more difficult than he imagined.
“Trump thought he had an opportunity. It’s harder than I believe he thought it was going to be. I know that’s true,” O’Reilly stated.
But O’Reilly said Trump’s main focus now was eliminating Iran’s ability to close the Strait of Hormuz.
“Doesn’t mean you give up. As far as the Hormuz thing is concerned, there’s just no way that Iran has the power to close that strait. It’s all about insurance companies; it’s all about writing policies for the tankers to go through. It’s up to you guys. But militarily, are they gonna close that? No, they can’t,” O’Reilly concluded.
