Thom Tillis tried to hold Trump’s agenda hostage on his way out.
Trump didn’t negotiate. He unloaded.
What he called Tillis in the Oval Office is something else.
As West Wing Daily reports:
President Trump nominated Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche for the full-time gig.
Right on cue, anti-Trump RINO Senator Thom Tillis of North Carolina piped up that he couldn’t support Blanche unless Blanche agreed to support the January 6 hoax narrative that Trump incited an insurrection and his supporters were all guilty.
“The key for Todd, or anybody going through Judiciary Committee, is being pretty tight on Jan. 6. They better not have said for one minute that the people that beat up police officers … were righteous people,” Tillis told reporters. “You come even close to saying that; you don’t have a [chance] of getting my vote in Judiciary.”
Tillis’ vote could prove critical since he sits on the Judiciary Committee, which will consider Blanche’s nomination.
Republicans hold a one-seat edge on the panel, and if Tillis votes with Democrats, then the committee can’t report Blanche’s nomination to the floor for a confirmation vote.
The Senate rebelled against President Trump over security funding for his proposed ballroom and a fund for the victims of weaponized government.
Establishment Republicans revolted over Trump successfully endorsing primary challengers to RINO incumbents John Cornyn, who supported amnesty and gun control, and Bill Cassidy, who voted to convict Trump in the January 6 impeachment hoax.
Tillis announced he was retiring rather than meet Cornyn’s or Cassidy’s fate after Trump announced he was recruiting a primary challenger for Tillis after Tillis voted against the Big Beautiful Bill.
In an Oval Office interaction with reporters, Trump shredded Tillis, pointing out he’s long been a treacherous saboteur.
“Senator Tillis is a loser!” Trump declared. “That’s why he didn’t run! He didn’t run because I wouldn’t support him. He’s just an angry man because he’s not going to be a senator any longer. He wasn’t respected in the Senate. He fought a lot of people. He fought Pete Hegseth. Pete Hegseth turned out to be a gem.”
Trump blasted Tillis as a “loser” who is just out for revenge after Trump forced him from the Senate over obstructing his agenda.
“No, Senator Tillis is a loser, stone cold. He’s an angry man because I basically — he was forced to leave the Senate because I wouldn’t support him, and he quit. So now he’s trying to make trouble by opposing anybody. Todd Blanche is a brilliant guy who everybody likes and everybody respects. And Tillis is always like, “I’m gonna do this, I’m gonna do that.” He should have done it before when he was a senator. He would have gotten wiped out in a race. But he needed my support. And I said, I can’t give you my support. He’s not qualified. He’s not. He’s not good for the position of senator,” Trump concluded.
